Crane OCR

The introduction of automated container identification when loaded and off-loaded with STS or gantry cranes, and in combination with truck and train OCR systems, allows terminal operators to track and trace all containers during their complete passage on the terminal, from arrival up to departure.

Although many terminal operators are looking for such a solution and several vendors are offering Crane OCR systems, so far a commercial breakthrough of the solution did not happen.

Many technical and practical issues that are specifically related to crane OCR need to be addressed, resulting today in rather expensive systems with a high Cost of Ownership and long ROI.

CAMCO is now finalizing a second generation Crane OCR system and solution. This new system allows terminal operators to introduce and equip all cranes with Crane OCR systems at a much lower installation and maintenance cost.
